A multi-award winning media professional with several decades experience in the industry. 

Garrett was part of the start-up teams at both TV3 and Newstalk.

As the former Editor in Chief of Newstalk, he was a pivotal figure in the commercial station’s transformation from a radio to a multi-platform brand, and was a member of the management team that secured a national licence for Newstalk in 2007.

During his time in the editor’s chair, Garrett led and shaped Ireland’s current affairs debate on many critical political, social and cultural moments in Irish society.

For years he coached top broadcasters such as Ivan Yates, Claire Byrne and Pat Kenny.

His frank yet personable approach has rightly earned him a reputation among many as the go-to person in the media and communications sector for strategic insight and counsel.

Garrett is a Senior Industry Advisor with the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development. Most recently completing an Enterprise Growth Programme in Tunisia with Radio Express FM, the country’s first national independent talk radio station established post the Arab Spring in 2011.  

Garrett is a Visiting Lecturer at Dublin City University.
